Jo Meyer, LMSW

Jo.jpg

Jo knows that we all have challenges that we face in life. Maybe there has been a recent change in your life that has prompted the urge to get help with these challenges. Trauma from a long time ago may still be lingering in your mind and affecting your current relationships. Depression may have been a constant companion in your life and you’re tired of it. Anxiety that has been something you have handled before is now causing health problems. Maybe you feel like an outsider in your own home.

Jo believes that the most powerful part of counseling is the realization that you are not alone, and your struggles are real. Feeling overwhelmed seems to be a natural part of our daily lives and together we can find a way to work through these feelings. Jo has been a practicing social worker for over 15 years and believes that nothing you say is going to scare her. The ability to talk openly and honestly with your therapist is the most important part of therapy. Jo received her MSW from the University of South Carolina. She enjoys working with diverse populations. This includes different age groups, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and cultures. Her goal as a provider is to help you navigate life’s challenges and give you resources to continue to thrive in the future. She looks forward to meeting you and working on any challenges you may face together.

Jo is trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, Sand Tray Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Each person’s life is their own amazing journey.  At times, this journey can be messy, stressful, and overwhelming, filled with highs, lows, and other experiences that can distract a person from living their best life.  All these life experiences generate thoughts and beliefs that can create a swirl of feelings, fears, expectations, and conditioning that can lead to disconnection, hurt/pain, anxiety, depression, and living a life of discontent.  Where does a person go from here?  Paige consider it a privilege to be a small part of your journey and help you to grow through life’s challenges and to enjoy the process of change. Together, you can explore what has been getting in the way of living your life to the fullest, and ultimately experiencing more joy and the realization of your greatest potential.

In a supportive and empathetic therapeutic relationship, Paige works collaboratively with her clients through gentle guidance to give them the time and space to identify patterns of thinking and behaving.  These can be patterns that are no longer useful and may be getting in the way of the changes you want to make, as well as preventing you from moving forward in your life’s journey.  By working together to connect to your inner power, it’s possible to create important shifts in thinking and to develop a system of support and skills that work to continue your journey with more clarity, strength, stability, and wisdom.

In meeting each client where they are, there are several routes we can take in therapy. Paige is trained in Trauma-focused CBT, and EMDR, which are used in healing from trauma.  She also uses a solution-focused approach, Mindfulness, and other strategies to help clients feel more empowered and build positive connections in their lives.
